Presence Platform Hackathon 2023 Attendees

In April 2023, Meta hosted a global hackathon at Meta HQ offices in Menlo Park, Silicon Valley. Meta invited over 150 developers from the XR development community to come together to prototype and build innovative mixed reality ideas for Quest Pro using the Presence Platform SDK.

The event was filled with creativity, ingenuity, fun, community building, and the true spirit of a hackathon alongside the top XR developers in the industry. It was inspiring to see Meta's team hard at work preparing for the next generation of XR technology and fostering a strong development community.

Treeview was invited to participate in the hackathon and we came in 🥈second place.

🥇 Winner: Submersed

Submersed is a mixed reality experience where users have to patch water leaks with your hand to slow rising water levels. The team used Presence Platform capabilities like Passthrough, Spatial Anchors, and Hand Tracking to bring their game to life.

Shadow Gallery is a mixed reality multiplayer party game. Players compete in a space between the real world and the metaverse to solve arcades of puzzles and challenges. The project used Presence Platform leveraging Shared Spatial Anchors, Passthrough and the Interaction SDK, players rival to win the Shadow Crown.

During the three day event, developers got a chance to network with the Reality Labs product and engineering team and learn about the latest updates and the roadmap of presence platform and Meta’s vision of the future of computing.

Conference presentations were organized by each presence platform devision enabling Q&A sessions and a deeper dive into the engineering underlying systems of each key capability: Passthrough, Scene, Spatial Anchors, Interaction SDK, Voice SDK, and Movement SDK.

The hackathon reinforced the AR/VR development community of Meta’s vision in leading this industry and their openness to create strong developer relationships to build the future of computing as a community.
